Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) scored the lone goal for Team USA as the U.S. National Under-17 Team fell to the Chicago Steel, 4-1, here tonight at USA Hockey Arena.
The Steel struck first when Jordan Seyfert converted at the 2:32 mark of the first period. Chicago added its second goal at 13:31 of the second period after Mitch Lewandowski buried a rebound.
With 1:50 to play in the second period, Marc Johnstone added a shorthanded goal to make it 3-0.
Farabee sent the puck top corner just over the blocker of Chicago’s Dayton Rasmussen to put the U17s on the board with just :52 left in the second period. Spencer Stastney (Mequon, Wis.) picked up the lone assist on the goal after starting the play from the right point.
Chicago added a goal with 4:37 on the clock in the third to clinch the 4-1 win.
Keegan Karki (Sartell, Minn.) had 23 saves on the night while Rasmussen recorded 27 saves.
The U17s are back in action at 7:05 p.m. ET tomorrow (Feb. 18), at Covelli Centre against the Youngstown Phantoms. The game will be streamed live on HockeyTV.com.
