Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) and Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) scored for the U.S. National Under-18 Team in its 5-2 loss to the University of New England on Saturday Night at Harold Alfond Arena.

With the loss, the U18s record falls to 17-16-2 overall and 6-8-1 against NCAA opponents.

Dhooghe opened the scoring for the U18s on a short handed tally at the 6:02 mark of the opening frame for his 10th goal of the season.

Following a UNE goal late in the first period that evened the score, Miller capitalized on a power play opportunity to break the tie and give Team USA a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission. Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) and David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.) assisted on the power play tally.

The U18s were unable to record another goal despite outshooting the Nor'Easters 32-29.

UNE scored two goals in the second period and one in the third period before depositing an empty net goal in the final minute to bring the score to a final of 5-2.

Adam Scheel recorded 24 saves on 28 shots. His record is now 3-9-0- overall and 2-4-1 against NCAA opponents.

The U18s return to USA Hockey Arena next weekend for a pair of matchups with the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday (Jan. 13) and Saturday (Jan. 14). Friday's game will feature Mascot Madness while Saturday's tilt will be Soccer Night at USA Hockey Arena. Tickets are available at USAHockeyArena.com.
