Mismash Records Hat Trick; U18s Defeat Maine, 6-2

Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) scored a hat trick in the U.S. National Under-18 Team's 6-2 victory against the University of Maine on Friday evening.

Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) scored a hat trick in the U.S. National Under-18 Team's 6-2 victory against the University of Maine on Friday evening at Alfond Arena in Orno, Maine. 

This marks the first time the National Team Development Program has defeated the Black Bears.

The victory improves the U18s record to 17-15-2 on the season and 6-7-1 against NCAA opponents.

Mismash opened the scoring for the U18s at the 7:02 mark of the first period. Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) and Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) picked up assists on Mismash's first tally of the game. 

The U18s didn't waste any time extending their lead as Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) netted his 11th goal of the season just 13 seconds later. Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) earned an assist on the tally.

Following a Black Bear tally, Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) scored his second goal of the season at the 16:00 mark of the first period. Tortora picked up his second assist of the night on the play while Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) added his name to the scoresheet with the secondary assist.

Barratt opened the scoring for the U18s in the second period off a feed from Pastujov. Scott Reedy (Prior Lake, Minn.) also registered a helper on the play.

Maine added another tally before Mishmash added his second goal of the game at the 16:08 mark of the second period. Reedy and Barratt each registered assists on the play.

Mismash added his final tally of the night on third period power play goal to close out the scoring for the U18s and bring the matchup to the final score of 6-2. 

Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) finished with 23 saves to pick up his 14th victory of the season and 4th against NCAA opponents. 

The U18s outshot Maine 30-25 for the game and were two for seven on the power play.

The U18s are back in action tomorrow when they travel to the University of New England for a 7 p.m. ET showdown with the Nor'Easters.
