Seventeen players who previously played for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program are members of the 2017 U.S. National Junior Team currently competing in the International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship in Toronto and Montreal.
Through two pre-tournament games, four preliminary round matchups and a quarterfinal, Team USA is undefeated and has outscored its opponents, 28-11.
Going into the semifinal round, Team USA's tournament scoring leaders all have NTDP ties: Clayton Keller (Swansea, Ill./2014-16) has eight points (3-5) and Jordan Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y./2013-15) has produced six points (3-3), followed by Colin White (Hanover, Mass./2013-15) and Troy Terry (Highlands Ranch, Colo./2014-15) with five points apiece (White: 4-1; Terry: 2-3). They are followed in the scoring by Jeremy Bracco (Freeport, N.Y./2013-15) and Charlie McAvoy (Long Beach, N.Y./2013-15) who have four points each.
Additionally, all of the U.S. game-winning goals in tournament play have been scored by NTDP alumni, including two from Greenway and one from each Terry, Tage Thompson (Oyster Park, N.Y./2014-15) and White.
Goaltender Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo./2014-16) has split time in net, earning a .934 save percentage and 1.50 goals-against average in two wins.
The U.S. National Junior Team will face Russia today in the semifinals. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. ET and will be televised in the U.S. live on NHL Network with updates also available on Twitter @USAHockey with the hashtags #USAWJC and #WorldJuniors.
