Ten players tallied points and Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) made 28 saves in the U.S. National Under-18 Team’s 4-1 victory against the Bloomington Thunder on Saturday at USA Hockey Arena.
Team USA started the scoring just 2:18 into the game with Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.) finding the back of the net from the top of the right circle off a pass from Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.).
The Under-18 Team doubled its lead at 8:39 of the first period on a power-play goal from David Farrance (Victor, N.Y.), with assists from Tommy Miller (West Bloomfield, Mich.) and Joey Cassetti (Pleasanton, Calif.).
A late Bloomington goal in the first period made it 2-1 going into the second, but Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) scored from the right half-wall just 1:12 into the second period to regain the two-goal lead.
Team USA’s fourth goal was scored less than two minutes later when Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) stole the puck from a Bloomington defenseman behind the net and scored in close.
The U18s finished the weekend with a pair of wins and will return to action at 8:05 p.m. ET Friday at the Alliant Energy Center against the Madison Capitols of the United States Hockey League for a two-game series.
