Three different players scored for the U.S. National Under-17 Team as it defeated the Bloomington Thunder, 3-1, here tonight at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
The Thunder took a 1-0 lead 3:28 into the game with a goal from Vladislav Dzhioshvili.
With 4:45 on the clock in the first period, Joel Farabee (Cicero, N.Y.) evened the score for Team USA. Jake Wise (North Andover, Mass.) added the lone assist on the play.
Less than a minute later, the U.S took the lead when Jake Goldowski (Thornhust, Pa.) found the back of the net. Erik Middendorf (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Ty Emberson (Eau Claire, Wis.) recorded assists.
Bloomington outshot the U.S., 12-6, in the second period, but Team USA held the Thunder scoreless and the teams entered the third frame at 2-1.
In the final minutes of the game, the Thunder pulled goaltender Gabriel Mollot-Hill for the extra skater. Oliver Wahlstrom (Quincy, Mass.) took advantage of the empty net, putting the U.S. up 3-1 with :45 remaining for the final goal of the game.
Goaltender Ryan Ullan (Hibbing, Minn.) made 27 saves in the win.
