Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) scored twice for the U.S. National Under-18 Team in its 6-3 loss to the University of Michigan on Friday night at Yost Ice Arena.

Tortora opened the scoring for Team USA when he took a stretch pass from Quinn Hughes (Orlando, Fla.) and split the defensemen before burying a shot past the blocker of Michigan goaltender Zach Nagelvoort. Dylan St. Cyr (Northville, Mich.) picked up his second assist of the season after settling down the puck for Hughes behind the Team USA net.

NTDP alum Will Lockwood (2014-16) evened the score for the Wolverines early in the second period.

Tortora's second tally came off a feed from Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) at the 19:12 mark of the second period. Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.), who signed his National Letter of Intent on Monday to play for the University Michigan in the 2017-18 season, also picked up an assist on the play.

The Wolverines answered back just 20 seconds later to knot the game at 2-2 heading into the second intermission.

NTDP alums Nick Pastujov (2014-16) and James Sanchez (2014-16) scored early in the third period to give the Wolverines a 4-2 lead. Sanchez also had the empty-net goal to close out the game.

Alex Kile added the fifth Wolverines goal late in the third, but Tkachuk closed the scoring gap to two goals minutes later on a 6-4 advantage, with passes from Norris and Joey Cassetti (Pleasanton, Calif.).

The Wolverines outshot the U18s 27-24.

St. Cyr made 21 saves in the contest and his record now stands at 7-7-0 overall and 1-2-0 in NCAA action on the season.

The U18s travel across Michigan tomorrow evening for a 7:05 p.m. ET matchup with Adrian College. A National Team Development Program broadcast will be available via the NTDP YouTube Channel.
