Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) tallied the loan Team USA goal for the U.S. National Under-18 Team in their 5-1 loss to the University of Notre Dame at Compton Family Ice Arena on Sunday evening.

The ninth-ranked University of Notre Dame hockey team built a 3-0 first period lead before Cockerill broke through late in the second period.

Taking a feed from Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) Cockerill pushed his first goal of the season past the Fighting Irish goaltender Cal Petersen at the 19:13 mark. Jacob Tortora (Victor, N.Y.) also picked up an assist on the goal.

Notre Dame added two more goals before the end of regulation.

Adam Scheel (Lakewood, Ohio) stopped 32 of the 37 shots. This is Scheel's first NCAA loss of the season and his overall season record now stands 0-3-0-0.

The U18s are back in action this week when they travel to Boston to take on a pair of NCAA Division I opponents. They take on Boston University (Thursday, Oct. 6) and Harvard University (Saturday, Oct. 8).
