Suthers, Bellows and Fox Each Tally Goals in the 4-2 Win

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - J.D. Greenway (Potsdam, N.Y.) potted the game-winning goal late in the third period as the U.S. National Under-18 Team claimed a 4-2 victory over the Youngstown Phantoms here this afternoon at USA Hockey Arena.

Team USA struck first in the opening period when Nick Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.) and Zach Walker (Boise, Idaho), sprung Keenan Suthers (Macomb, Mich.) for a top-shelf goal from the mid-right faceoff circle. Then, Adam Fox (Jericho, N.Y.) carried the puck up the right wing and found Kieffer Bellows  (Edina, Minn.) rushing up the slot for the second USA goal closing the period 2-0 for the U18s.

Youngstown cut the U.S. lead in half, 2-1, with less than two minutes to play in the second stanza while on a five-minute power play.

With just over seven minutes to play in the final period, Youngstown managed to notch the game-tying marker. Less than four minutes later, Greenway skated end-to-end, cut across the net front and slung the puck into the net on the short side for the go-ahead goal. Fox flipped the puck from the defensive zone into an empty net for the insurance tally and the 4-2 final score.

USA goaltender Joseph Woll (St. Louis, Mo.) stopped 21-of-23 shots in the victory.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team next plays in NCAA Division I action on Thursday, Jan. 21 against the University of Michigan at Yost Ice Arena, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Puck drop is slated for 7:35 p.m. ET.
