Four Different Players Score in Setback in Plymouth

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Four different players scored, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team was edged out by the Fargo Force, 5-4, tonight at USA Hockey Arena. The U.S. jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but the Force rallied with three goals in the third period to ultimately top Team USA.

In the first frame, Logan Hutsko (North Caldwell, N.J.) carried the puck into the right corner, cycled up to the middle of the circle and shoveled a backhander past goaltender Ryan Wischow to open scoring at 2:28. Fargo  notched the equalizer 5:10 later to end the stanza in a tie.

The U.S. scored first in the middle frame when Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) and Logan Cockerill (Brighton, Mich.) each fired shots at Wischow, and then Michael Pastujov (Bradenton, Fla.), trailing, snapped a rebound from the slot for the go-ahead marker.

Brady Tkachuk (St. Louis, Mo.) tallied the third U.S. goal with a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle on a cross-slot pass from Randy Hernandez (Miami, Fla.). Just 2:43 later, the Force pulled back within a goal. On the power play, Josh Norris (Oxford, Mich.), Grant Mismash (Edina, Minn.) and Sean Dhooghe (Aurora, Ill.) executed a tic-tac-toe play in the right circle, ending with a Dhooghe top-shelf goal to double the U.S. lead.

In the final frame, Fargo notched three goals, including two markers just 1:11 apart in final six minutes of the game for the 5-4 victory.

The U.S. National Under-17 Team and the Fargo Force are back in action tomorrow night at USA Hockey Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. The game is also available live on FASTHockey.com.
