USA vs. Czech Republic - The Series

This is the 12th all-time meeting between the United States and Czech Republic at the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship and a rematch of last year’s gold-medal game (won by Team USA, 5-2). The U.S. boasts a 9-1-1-1 (W-OTW-OTL-L) all-time mark against the Czechs in the event, including victories in the last nine meetings between the two nations dating back to 2004. The series between the countries includes three quarterfinal showdowns, with the U.S. winning in 2009 (6-2) and 2010 (6-0), and the Czechs prevailing in 2001 (5-4 in overtime).

Team USA All-Time in the Quarterfinals

The U.S. Men’s National Under-18 Team is 6-0-1-0 (W-OTW-OTL-L) in seven all-time quarterfinal appearances. That mark includes victories in the squad’s last six trips to the quarterfinal found. Team USA hasn’t been knocked off in the first round of the bracket since the Czech Republic used overtime to beat the U.S., 5-4, in the 2001 tournament. The United States stormed to a 6-2 win over Slovakia in last year’s quarterfinals.
