SUPERIOR, Wis. - Tyler Kelleher (Longmeadow, Mass.) notched three goals and nine other players recorded points, as the U.S. National Under-18 team took out the University of Wisconsin-Superior, 7-1, on Jan. 27, at Wessman Arena. The U.S. improves its record against collegiate competition to 10-6-4 (W-L-T) with the victory.

After a scoreless first period, which saw Team USA outshoot its opponent, 11-4, the U.S. found the back of the net at 12:26 of the second stanza. Kelleher netted his first of the contest with assists going to Michael McCarron (Macomb, Mich.) and Keaton Thompson (Devils Lake, N.D.). Just 27 seconds later, John Hayden (Greenwich, Conn.) lit the lamp to double the Under-18 Team lead. Anthony Louis (Winfield, Ill.) registered an assist on the play. Kelleher scored again at 17:58 to send the U.S. into the locker room up 3-0. Evan Allen (Sterling Heights, Mich.) and McCarron earned helpers on the marker.

Allen joined the scoring parade at 6:25 of the third period. McCarron served up his third assist on the night, with Connor Clifton (Matawan, N.J.) collecting the secondary assist. Hayden potted his second at 7:52, unassisted, to give Team USA a 5-0 advantage. Kelleher completed the hat trick at 15:17 off a Hudson Fasching (Burnsville, Minn.) feed. Wisconsin-Superior spoiled the shutout bid for Hunter Miska (North Branch, Minn.) just 30 seconds later. Allen completed his three-point effort with three seconds remaining in the game, striking on the power play. Sean Malone (West Seneca, N.Y.) and Shane Eiserman (West Newbury, Mass.) worked together to set Allen up.

Miska would finish the game with 10 saves, earning the victory over the Yellowjackets, who split goaltending duties between three netminders: Drew Strandberg, Dennis Nordmark and Ryan Pinoniemi. The trio made a combined 25 saves in the loss.

The U.S. National Under-18 Team returns home for a tilt against the Youngstown Phantoms on Thursday, Jan. 31. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. EST at the Ann Arbor (Mich.) Ice Cube. Following that contest, the U18s set its sights on the 2013 Five Nations Under-18 Tournament in Jonkoping, Sweden. The tournament runs from Feb. 6-10 and full coverage can be found on www.usantdp.com.
