ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Edwin Minney (Wind Gap, Pa.) made 37 saves, but the U.S. National Under-17 Team was bested by the Sioux Falls Stampede, 4-1, on Jan. 25 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube.

Sioux Falls scored first at the 6:04 mark of the first period. Former National Team Development Program blueliner, Matt Van Voorhis (Edina, Minn./2009-11), earned an assist on the Stampede tally. Team USA responded at 12:29 when Ryan MacInnis (St. Louis, Mo.) tapped in his own rebound, tying the game at one goal apiece.

The U.S. was whistled for a penalty late in the second stanza, leading to the go-ahead goal by the Stampede at 17:43. The power-play marker was the only score of the frame and Team USA entered second intermission down one after 40 minutes of play.

A power-play strike, the second for Sioux Falls, extended the lead for the Stampede, 3-1, at 1:41 of the third frame. Team USA put seven shots on net in an attempt to ignite the comeback bid, but Stampede netminder David Jacobson turned aside each chance to secure the victory. Sioux Falls added a late goal and the U.S. fell, 4-1.

The Under-17 Team finds itself right back in action tomorrow (Jan. 26), versus the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube. On Sunday (Jan. 27), Team USA and Dubuque clash in a rematch at 3:30 p.m.
