U.S. National Under-17 Team Shutout by Youngstown in Back-to-Back Games

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The U.S. National Under-17 Team was shutout by the Youngstown Phantoms in back-to-back games at the Covelli Center on Nov. 23-24.

In the first game against Youngstown on Friday (Nov. 23), Anders Bjork (Mequon, Wis.) and Sonny Milano (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the U.S. with three shots each.

Edwin Minney (Wind Gap, Pa.) and Eric Schierhorn (Anchorage, Alaska) combined to make 34 saves in the loss for Team USA, while Sean Romeo earned the shutout for the Phantoms by turning aside 23 of 23 shots.

The following night (Nov. 24), Team USA put 24 shots on Youngstown's Romeo, but again were stymied and held scoreless. Ryan Hitchcock (Manhasset, N.Y.) had five shots on net, while Blake Christensen (Rochester Hills, Mich.) had four.

Schierhorn stopped 32 shots in the loss for the U.S., while Romeo registered his second straight shutout for the Phantoms, making 24 saves.
